Covenant of Membership

Anchorage Reformed Presbyterian Fellowship is committed to faithfully teaching, obeying, and propagating “the faith once delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). We believe that the testimony of Biblical righteousness is essential in all areas of life, worship, and ministry to honor the Lord. We affirm the beliefs stated in the Apostles’ Creed and the Westminster Confession of Faith. We believe purity of Biblical faith is the only basis of unity and peace. We therefore covenant with one another to uphold these sacred truths:

Whereas, there is one sovereign God Who created and sustains all things, is infinitely perfect and eternally exists in the three Persons of the Triune Godhead—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and

Whereas, God became flesh in Jesus Christ, was born of a virgin, and became the unique Man-God, truly Man and truly God united forever, and

Whereas, faith in Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation from the consequences of sin because He paid the price for our sin by dying on the cross and rising from the dead, thus providing eternal life and reconciliation between our sinful nature and the holiness of God the Father, and

Whereas, the Holy Spirit was given by God to man to convict us of our sin and draw us to the Savior, the Holy Spirit instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption, and

Whereas, the Bible is God’s Word, true and God-breathed as originally given, without error, infallible in accomplishing God's purpose, and is the sole authority for faith, and the daily practice of it, and

Whereas, we are all sinners in need of forgiveness by God Who forgives repentant sinners, and Who is the perfect example of how sinful men are also to forgive each other, and

Whereas, our salvation is wholly dependent on God’s grace and His forgiveness freely given to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and

Whereas, the Church is composed of all persons who are united together in the body of Christ as believers in Him awaiting His return, and finds her visible expression in local congregations where the Word of God is preached in its purity, the sacraments are administered with integrity, where Scriptural discipline is practiced, and where loving fellowship is maintained, and

Whereas, the family is the foundational institution for society ordained by God in Scripture, and marriage, as ordained by God, is between one man and one woman but many are chosen for a single life, we affirm fidelity in marriage and chastity in singleness, and

Whereas, man’s body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and is the temple of the Holy Spirit in which God bids us honor Him, and

Therefore, in light of God's great mercy and grace, seeking to serve Him and others, we, as members of Anchorage Presbyterian Fellowship, do covenant before God and one to the other, that we will uphold one another in prayer and good will, and use those good gifts God has entrusted to us to enrich the life of our congregation and to share the Good News of His love until He returns.
